Typography

Typography

What is this?

This project is a display of some techniques that are used in typography.  The example (posted up top) has 10 different examples to consider when making a font or graphics.  Most of the techniques I used in this project are self explanatory when glancing at this project, lower case, upper case, etc.  How ever some are more complex but can make your text really stand out.  For example serifs are little marks that are used as a decoration to give your text an appearance that grabs the readers attention. Counters are simple to explain, more so then the serifs, counters are the negative space in a letter.

                                                                 What did I learn?
I learned something I never considered until now, techniques that are used when creating a font. I learned what counter is, and aperture is how they use negative space to give the text more style. However that was not the most important thing I learned while working on this.  I learned about serifs, how they are important and how they give a graphic designer an opportunity to express themselves.

                                                               How did this project go?
I thought the project went well, overall I think I did a pretty good job. However I would have a font that had more serifs and more design elements.  My name does not really have that many exotic letters like g or q so I could not show elements like the loop, but my name was able to convey important techniques.
