The Final (Website)

Coding in e-Comm?

This project was the Semester 1 final. We made a website and a portfolio using dream weaver. Our project required some computer science knowledge, i.e, coding. Besides from the coding this project wasn't quite long, since I am a slow worker I had to spend time after school to get my project some what finished. We had to make 2 pages so to speak our project and home, here's how they turned out.

What did I Learn?

I learned that web design is tough work. Not only do you need to have basic knowledge of computer science you also need the ability to say motivated and ready to work. I also learned what coding is. And before tech heads berate me for going to a class like this and not knowing code is a problem however I know it now. I learned what tags are and how to end them. Lastly I learned what dreamweaver is. To my surprise its quite rigorous and difficult.

What Would I Change?

There is many things I regret about this project. For one I overestimated myself thinking I could finish this easily however other finals got in my way. My mom always tell me you procrastinate you face the unknown and couldn't be farther from the truth now. On the other hand there is some things I liked about this project. For one I like the concept of it, being able to build our own websites is quite the skill that can be used later down the road. Even though I had only one video left I declare my project a success and it does have its charm.

House Plan and Tour

What Exactly Was This Project

This project made me feel like a digital architect, this project was a house designer/ builder activity that was used in sketch up. we used sketch up to create a 3-D model of a real life house. However while designing this house almost exactly we were allowed some creative freedom. Nothing to big of course since we were to follow the floor plan of the house. However some of us used slightly different textures to create our House.

Why do this Project?

This may seem like a chore to someone who isn't in e-comm but this was very important to e9 students. During this project we learned the simple ideas of 3-D modeling using sketch up. We learned how to use the push and pull tool to create our houses precisely. On a more technical note we learned how to export our animation into a compressed mp.4 file. And strangely enough I finally learned how to upload to Youtube. I have a feeling this class might turn me into the next big internet star.

I love This House.

Honestly I am very proud of this project. Allow it took me a while to get this done the stress of finals kicked me into gear. The textures are a bit primitive however the textures represent the actual house rather well. The glass Ould have been lighter and the roof could have been better created.

Bounce

What Was The Project?

This project was a ball bounce and with other activities. We created these gifs in Adobe Photoshop to help gasp the basic teachings of animation. We had to create three gifs in the span of a week, an basic bounce gif, a parabola gif, which has basically a animation of a ball being thrown across the screening then rolling into some brush. Lastly my favorite we did a freeform bounce where Mr. Netterville let us run wild with our imaginations. As long as we did something made the ball disappear in some sort of then we could do basically do whatever we want.

What did I learn?

I learned the basic fundamentals of one of the several different types of animation. We learned about frame animation in adobe photoshop. We also learned how to share each others ideas and get each other opinions on our projects

I would keep it the same

Even though the animation is rather crude I would keep it the same, I liked my idea for the Alien sucking up the ball.  Even though it is poorly drawn it will have a special place in my heart as my first real proud of animation.

Logo

My Personal Logo

The Process

When we first started the project I was thinking of using my name to create some sort of shape with in it.  I realized that it would be easier to make logo using my initials, I decided to use C and D in a planet with a ring around it. Since creating an elispe around would create a line running through the planet I would have to use a paintbrush to cover it up, this took a lot of my time especially when choosing the planet color. At first I thought I was going to orange and blue to really pop, then I moved to blue and grey. With the help of some friends they helped me to decide to choose turquoise and gray for my finished project.

My First Sketches
My Color choices
Black and White Logo

Why did I choose what I choose?

I choose this font because I wanted a bold that was big and would pop with a thick stroke.  I choose Black as the ring and the outline because it draws the eye, and turquoise stands for creativity and wisdom which is something I really connected with. I choose grey because grey really matches with any color and I wanted to have a neutral color as the letter C.

Typography

Typography

What is this?

This project is a display of some techniques that are used in typography.  The example (posted up top) has 10 different examples to consider when making a font or graphics.  Most of the techniques I used in this project are self explanatory when glancing at this project, lower case, upper case, etc.  How ever some are more complex but can make your text really stand out.  For example serifs are little marks that are used as a decoration to give your text an appearance that grabs the readers attention. Counters are simple to explain, more so then the serifs, counters are the negative space in a letter.

                                                                 What did I learn?
I learned something I never considered until now, techniques that are used when creating a font. I learned what counter is, and aperture is how they use negative space to give the text more style. However that was not the most important thing I learned while working on this.  I learned about serifs, how they are important and how they give a graphic designer an opportunity to express themselves.

                                                               How did this project go?
I thought the project went well, overall I think I did a pretty good job. However I would have a font that had more serifs and more design elements.  My name does not really have that many exotic letters like g or q so I could not show elements like the loop, but my name was able to convey important techniques.

My Color Wheel

My Color Wheel

                            What Was The Project?

This project was a color wheel that we made in Adobe Illustrator. We uses shape tools auto make the outlining circle and the triangle, after that we used the eclipse tool to shape it into a circle and then we used the fill tool to fill in the circles. Finally we arranged the shapes into a a color wheel and added the labels to the colors.

                                           What Did I learn?

I learned that Adobe illustrator is sort of a multi tool. It can create geometric shapes and fill in areas, it also has a pen and and wider and narrower variants and wider drawing tools. And in the end I learned how to publish a project and export.

What I Do or not Do again.

If I did this again I would have worked more to keep on track and stay focused. Other than that I would have made the triangles that formed the triads shorter. I am proud of my project altogether and I would have kept many aspects of of it, especially the color choice.

Side Walk Chalk activity

I think the sidewalk chalk experience was great, when we learned about the symbol and their meanings really they helped me to really understand what we were doing. The sketching was probably my favorite part since we could share ideas and we could communicate about our idea for the coat of arms which was something you do in a work environment. The final part was us putting our ideas together and creating our final product, overall it was a great time.

My team mates Eric and Alex and I working on our
                                     chalk drawing

We decided to do the colors so they would match to the person diagonal to the the other person. We each chose symbols that fit our personality and what we do, we each also added our own twist to the symbols.

My team mates Eric, Alex and Addy standing over our finished
                                  project.

I thought our team worked well together and I think we each used our different talents to make the piece come to life. We also did our own share, Eric did the sword, I did the Latin banner and Addy did the shield and top banner and Alex worked on detail. I don't think I would change anything except for how many people in the group, I would have added more people.

The Farewell Address (see ya gamers!)

Introduction      It’s over, but honestly it still really hasn’t hit that after 4 years I am done. I still remember my freshman classe...
