Interview

What was the Story?

When we learned about the assignment we wanted to do soccer.  So we choose Josh, when we interviewed him we wanted to figure out how the sport impacted his life. We learned a lot from asking him about his friends and the skills he made when participating in the sport. I knew that we needed to capture the effect of soccer of young minds, however I haven't had the time to finish the video yet. Here's why...

The Process

The road to making this interview was full of misfortune and disregard. It started out well though as we had a clear mind going in to the project and we were ready to film We even manged to get b-roll from the upper class men of the game Josh was in.  When we got to the interview however we had to move spots which disrupted the project. When then had to rush to find a new spot. We settled on the hallway. There were consequences though because our audio which our camera man assured was absent. After this it went down hill. People came through and actively disrupted us and ruined lot of the time we had. After finishing that mess we moved to editing which was not much better as we were already behind. Then we learned that each of us had to do our own voice over instead of just one for the group. That's when the class moved on.

My Experience

I learned about planning and about the camera and how it works. But the main thing I learned was patience. Especially the final stretch of the project.  Since everyone needed the recording room we needed to wait. And this was frustrating but I think it helped some since we had downtime to think was Brogan was going to say.

What would I change?

I would change our topic and how we conducted ourselves. I think soccer was good but at the time we didn't have time to go out and film so we had to rely on someone else to capture b-roll. And I think we should have taken it more seriously.

Lastly...

I think that this was something to learn from. I think that I can learn a lot from this and the problem's we faced.

The Farewell Address (see ya gamers!)
